TweetDeck Just Got a Tweet Panel Revamp

Twitter finally did what so many seemed to be asking for and announced that they have revamped Tweetdeck and have given their tweet panel a face lift in an effort to make tweeting, messaging and sharing images easier.  Unfortunately, it wont be available for everyone immediately.

New TweetDeck Tweet Panel Designed for Ease of Use

According to their blog, TweetDeck’s new updated interface will feature a left justified sidebar, keeping up with the interfaces of popular social media tools like Hootsuite and Sprout Social, and will have the option to remain open at all times.  The new panel will be available when you hit the New Tweet button or when replying to a tweet.

TweetDeck Gets Some New Features

While the TweetDeck face lift is the latest updates biggest headline, TweetDeck is also releasing a few new features designed to make drafting new tweets a bit more user-friendly.  These new additions include:

  • TweetDeck will not allow you to reply to users simply by hitting a reply button instead of copy/pasting names manually

  • Universal ability to preview image prior to posting (previously available on iOS)

  • TweetDeck now automatically shortens links to 22 characters long but will still show the full URL.  This will make it easier to plan tweets as all URLs will now by 22 characters long.

  • Now auto generates hashtags and usernames as you type based on partial entries.  Finally, you can begin typing and it will bring up usernames and hashtags that closely match what you’ve entered.

TweetDeck Features to Be Gradually Implemented For Users

The post indicated that these features will not be available for all users immediately.  Instead, they will roll out the new features for users on the web and Google Chrome version of TweetDeck.  Windows and Mac app users will have to wait a bit longer to get the new features.
